Nyquist Colt Sells for $550K for Seth Morris Thoroughbreds at 2024 OBS Spring Sale
Ocala, FL (April 16, 2024) After an active round of bidding, a colt by Nyquist brought in $550,000 for Seth Morris Thoroughbreds during the first session of Ocala Breeders’ Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training.
Spendthrift Farm and MKW Racing and Breeding prevailed on the final auction bid of $550,000. The colt’s sharp eighth-mile breeze in :10 flat at the under tack preview caught the attention of several potential buyers, leading to the eventual sale.
“He’s just a big, big, beautiful colt,” said Spendthrift Farm general manager Ned Toffey. “(We) were down here working the breeze show and they had him identified based on his breeze. We love the sire. He is a big, athletic horse.”
Bred in Maryland by Bowman and Higgins, the Nyquist Colt is out of the winning Not for Love mare How My Heart Works. The colt was acquired by Thorostock and Seth Morris Thoroughbreds for a final bid of $205,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Fall Yearling Sale on October 2023.
The Nyquist colt is a full sibling to 2023 U.A.E. Oaks (G3) placed Asawer and Discover States (G3) placed Monday Morning Qb.
